Katarzyna Holysz graduated from the Academy of Music in Poznan in 2003 where she studied with Krystyna Pakulska. She also took master-classes with Christine Hampe, Maria Pelegrini, Jadwiga Rappe, Jerzy Artysz, Ryszard Karczykowski and others. She received the Polish Government scholarship for the most talented young artists (2000/2001) and the Stipendium Bayreuther Festspiele (2001). In 2001 and 2002, as laureate of the International Festival for Young Singers Schloss Rheinsberg, she performed Sophie Dorothea in the opera „Kronprinz Friedrich” by Siegfried Matthus. Her interpretation of Adalgisa in the Poznan Opera House (2003) was awarded the Young Art Medal of Poznan. Recently she was awarded the Gold Masque of the town of Lodz for the best vocal creation (Agatha).
Katarzyna Holysz co-operates with several Polish and German opera theatres, where she has performed among others Eboli (Don Carlos/Verdi), Adalgisa (Norma/Bellini), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier/R.Strauss), Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos/R.Strauss), Idamante (Idomeneo/Mozart), Fenena (Nabucco/Verdi). She played, with enormous succes, Madame in the Polish premiere of the Francis Poulenc opera „La Voix humaine”. Since 2009 she has decided to sing also some soprano parts, highly acclaimed by critics and audience, for example Leonore/Fidelio (Fidelio/Bethoven), Venus (Tannhäuser/Wagner), Agatha (Der Freischütz/Weber), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos/R.Strauss), Duchess (Rusalka/Dvorak).
Besides of his opera career, Katarzyna Holysz belongs to the recognized Polish concert singers. She has been invited to perform in the concert-halls in Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Lithuania, first of all in German and French repertoire. Her debut in the National Philharmonia in Warsaw will take place in the fall of 2009.
